Kansas State was also trying to match their school record 11 wins, but still finished a surprising turn season coach Bill Snyder Wildcats. K-State won 11 games six times over a period of seven years of tenure Snyder's first three years before his retirement, and almost reached that mark again in his third season on the back.

Wildcats quarterback Collin Klein tied the record with 12 touchdown of his 27th great run this season and equaled the record for quarterbacks FBS.

After being held to 15 yards on 12 carries in the first half, Klein finished the first series of the third quarter with a touchdown run of 6 yards to the Wildcats won 19-16. That came after Klein had a run of 15 yards on the previous play.

Which coincides with the Big 12 record for rushing touchdowns held by 1998 Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams of Texas. The only other FBS quarterback with 27 touchdowns in a season was Ricky Dobbs of the Navy in 2009.

The only other 11-win seasons for the Razorbacks were by Lou Holtz, head coach in 1977 and only undefeated season coach Frank Broyles' Arkansas in 1964.

A team member who won the 1964 Cotton Bowl Nebraska was Jerry Jones, Dallas Cowboys owner who attended the game in their stadium for $ 1.2 billion, which opened in 2009. He was part of a noisy crowd of 80,956.

The Cotton Bowl was the only non-BCS game with two teams in the top 15 ranking of the Bowl Championship Series - Arkansas came in the sixth, eighth in the state of Kansas. It is also the only container with the SEC against the Big 12, the first two conferences in the BCS computer rankings.

Adams agreed with the SEC single-season record with his fourth kickoff return for a touchdown. He was the only player in FBS this season with multiple touchdown punt return, along with the land and qualifications.

After fielding the ball near midfield, Adams stepped back before jets through a gap past several defenders. He got all the way to the opposite sideline and got his way clear by a Herndon Javontee last block downfield.

The Razorbacks did not even get a first down to 12 ½ minutes left in the first half when Dennis Johnson opened a drive with a run of 28 yards. That drive ended with the second objective of Zach Hocker field of three, one from 22 yards.

Arkansas led 19-0 when Wilson threw a touchdown pass to Jairo Wright 45 yards with four minutes left in the first half.

Kansas State, who has lost their last four since beating bowl Arizona State in the Holiday Bowl in 2002, blocked the extra point and Nigel Malone returned for two points.

It was 19-9 at halftime after Klein threw a touchdown pass 3 yards of Andrew McDonald, with 26 seconds left in the first half. That score was set up after Wilson was sacked by Adam Davis and fumbled in the 13 Razorbacks.

Wildcats defensive Meshak Williams was injured in the final of the first half, when he made helmet to helmet contact Emmanuel Lamur when both were trying to deal with Wilson, who lowered his head to avoid the blow.

Williams was down on the field for several minutes being attended to by medical personnel and then placed on a stretcher. He gave a thumb up signal when placed in a cart, then when I was driving off the field stretched out his right arm at a signal and launched Wildcat.

Kansas State officials gave no further news about his injury or condition.

The Razorbacks play their second game at Cowboys Stadium this season, three months after they overcame a halftime deficit of 18 points to beat the Big 12 and the team's future SEC foe Texas A & M 42-38.

On the return trip, Arkansas led the Big 12 opponents at halftime and was strangled in his most offensive Klein and Kansas State. It was the first set of new Razorbacks defensive coordinator Paul Haynes, who was hired in December after Willy Robinson resigned.

Wilson, who threw for a school-record 510 yards in that game from 01 October at the Cowboys Stadium, was 20-of-31 for 216 yards against Kansas State. Wright had three receptions for 88 yards. He had 13 receptions for 287 yards against the Aggies a record.

The punt return touchdown by Adams was the first in 51 years at the Cotton Bowl. The latter was also a Razorback, when Lance Alworth had a kickoff return 49 yards for a touchdown in a 7-6 defeat Duke in the 1961 game.

Arkansas led 3-0 after Jake Bequette Klein fired and forced a fumble, setting up 26-yard field goal Honker.

Tenarius Wright, ending the Razorbacks defense of others, leaped over a pile to recover the fumble in the State of Kansas 13.

Klein fumble came on a fielder's second and 33 after a sequence that began with his 20 yards in the territory of Arkansas to be killed by an illegal shift penalty. He was captured on the next play before the conclusion of a call and a false start pushed the ball all the way back at 20.

West Virginia routs Clemson 70-33 In Orange Bowl

West Virginia routs Clemson 70-33 In Orange Bowl.MIAMI - The West Virginia Mountaineers were hard to stop, and only the mascot of the Orange Bowl could not stop Darwin Cook.

Geno Smith tied the record for a bowl game with six touchdowns, and No. 23-ranked Mountaineers set a bowl scoring record Wednesday night with his high-powered offense. But the security of Cook made the key play when he returned a fumble 99 yards for a touchdown to break the game open and help defeat No. 14 Clemson 70-33.

Cooking comically collided with Obie pet after scoring one of the climbers' five touchdowns in the second quarter, including three in the final 2:29 for a 49-20 advantage. It was the highest-scoring half of a team in a bowl game.

"I've always imagined making plays," said Cook. "If you think that will happen will happen."

Tavon Austin tied a record for any bowl game with four touchdown receptions. Smith was 31, 42, and had 401 yards passing to break the record for the Orange Bowl Tom Brady. Smith also ran for a touchdown, helping West Virginia points to break the record set bowl six nights earlier, when Washington defeated Baylor 67-56 in the Alamo Bowl.

"We could never imagine had 70 points," said Smith.

The Mountaineers (10-3) won his first appearance in the Orange Bowl and improved to 3-0 in the Bowl Championship Series games.

"The kids wanted to come and make a statement, and the only way you can make is that if you play well on all three sides of the ball," said Coach Dana Holgorsen.

Clemson (10-4) lost playing in your main course for the first time in 30 years.

"We're a better team than we played tonight," Coach Dabo Swinney said. "Too many errors, But we'll be back."

The offensive display was the latest in a series of bowls this season, and perhaps the last. The defense is expected to dominate in the final game Monday night when BCS LSU faces Alabama for the national title.

The defenders had their hands full - or rather, no - on a cold night in Miami. Austin Smith and passes combined score of 8, 27, 3 and 37 yards, and Shawne Alston scored two runs short of West Virginia, totaling 589 yards and 31 first downs. Smith was voted most outstanding player of the game.

Even when Clemson was able to corral the climbers, the game was not always more.
