Recap San Francisco Vs. NY Giants.For the second time in five seasons, the New York Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes had a chance to win the NFC Championship in overtime.

Additional minutes at Candlestick Park are always a harsh dose of deja vu for the 49ers in San Francisco.

Tynes kicked a field goal from 31 yards after the 49 sought a punt in overtime, lifting the Giants to a 20-17 victory on Sunday and sending it to Super Bowl XLVI to deal with the Patriots of New England.

"A classic game of football," coach Tom Coughlin the Giants, who had seen a similar finish to the sideline before.

In 2008, Tynes kicked a 47 yards in overtime to beat the Green Bay Packers in the championship game of the NFC and the Giants came down to the Patriots in Super Bowl memorable ending to a perfect season in New England.

This time, the Giants were provided with the opportunity to kick the winning goal after the 49ers return man Kyle Williams fumbled a punt deep in the territory of San Francisco, where he was stripped by Jacqui Williams.

"A tremendous football game for those who enjoy the game in its basic level," Coughlin said Sunday. "It was a very physical game. It was very difficult for any team to gather any offense consistently."

New York returned to the playoffs after an absence of two years and is 3-1 in the Super Bowl, his last championship coming over New England in a game-winning drive orchestrated by Manning.

Williams revealed muff punt after a review and the Giants took over at the San Francisco 29. Six plays later, Manning found Manningham without cornerback Tramaine Brock in the middle of the end zone for a 17-yard touchdown with 8:34 remaining and 17-14 leads in regulation.

He took the 49ers to only six snaps to tie the game in the Akers field goal at the other end. In a small measure of redemption, Williams helped establish the scoring with a 40-yard return kickoff.

Manning is the quarterback of the playoffs with more experience, but Smith was the best pass of the first half, dropping a ball in the hands of Davis near the Giants' 40 - yard line.

Davis on tiptoe to stay on the edge - at least according to the replay, which showed no substantial evidence that stepped on the line - and ran the last 40 yards to the end zone for a 7-0 lead to Halfway through the first quarter.
