Salma Hayek Named A Knight In France.Salma Hayek gets quite an honor.On Sunday, the actress of 45 years was one of the recipients named by President Nicolas Sarkozy of the Legion of Honor, reports People magazine. She will enter the Academy of honor as a knight, or knight.
The "Puss in Boots" star, who is married to French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, will be recognized at a formal induction ceremony. A source tells People mag the event will probably take place over the next two months at the Elysee Palace and will include a Presidential Medal pinning.
Wear Daily reports that Hayek, the father-in-law, François Pinault, was appointed Grand Officer of the Legion d'Honneur, the highest civilian award in the country.
The Legion of Honor was created as a Merit Award to recognize military personnel and civilians for services rendered to France, reports People. Prior recipients include Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford, Jerry Lewis and Robert De Niro.
