Alabama Blanks LSU For BCS Title

Alabama Blanks LSU For BCS Title.NEW ORLEANS - Before LSU, Alabama met in the game Bowl Championship Series title Monday night, Alabama kicker Jeremy Shelley spoke of the chance to redeem himself.
In their first meeting on November 5, Shelley and Cade Foster combined to Miss Four to six field goals attempts the Crimson Tide lost, 9-6 in overtime.

"I have no problem with the game coming down to our feet," Shelley said about revenge

as it turned out, on foot Shelley was the difference. His five goals align led Alabama to a 21-0 victory and its second national championship in three years. Alabama Nick Saban became the first coach with three BCS titles, Alabama in 2009 and LSU in 2003. It is the only coach with BCS crowns in different schools.

Like the first game, the championship game was a matter of defense that came down to field goals. But Deja Two was not as convincing.

He was the first shutout in the history of BCS, covering 62 games, and the first shutout in a bowl since the 2009 Holiday Bowl.

Although the defense shined, LSU (13-1) looked unhappy to attack. Tiger’s quart Jordan Jefferson threw for 53 yards was sacked four times and intercepted once and lost a fumble. LSU crossed midfield just once, with 7:58 remaining in the game.

"We could not support any consistency," LSU coach Miles said.

While LSU fans booed Jefferson in the third quarter, Miles has never turned a quarter Jarrett Lee, who started the first nine games of the season. "We felt like with the ability to Jordan to escape the rush to finish it was just that," Miles said.

Alabama quart AJ McCarron was named MVP offensive, ranging from 23 to-34 passing for 234 yards.

Courtney Upshaw linebacker was named defensive MVP of the game with seven tackles, including a sack.

"We wanted to go out and show the world that we really beat the first game," said Upshaw. "We wanted to dominate from start to finish and that's what we did."

Alabama running back Trent Richardson had touched only the game, a 34-yard run with 4:36 remaining. The Heisman Trophy finalist ran for 96 yards on 20 carries.
