Report Oregon's Chip Kelly Will Not Coach Buccaneers.Oregon football coach Chip Kelly tries to stay in college football after serious discussions with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Register-Guard of Eugene, Oregon, reported Sunday night the night Kelly decided against a move to the NFL after it seemed he was set at the output.
ESPN, the Tampa Bay Times, and KGW8, a television station in Portland, previously reported on Sunday that Kelly was to negotiate an agreement with Tampa Bay, citing people with knowledge of the situation.
The Buccaneers are looking to replace former coach Raheem Morris, who was fired after a 4-12 season Jan. 2, the same day Kelly Ducks won the first program in the Rose Bowl since 1917.
The Bucs have lost their last ten games in 2011 and finished dead last in points allowed (30.9).
Since becoming head coach of Oregon in 2009, Kelly teams went 34-6, won their conference and have reached BCS game in three seasons. He was previously an assistant with Columbia, New Hampshire, and Johns Hopkins before becoming offensive coordinator in Oregon in 2007.
Kelly was among the college coaches the highest paid in the country in 2011 with a salary of $ 2.8 million base and the chance to win up to $ 1.035 million in premiums. Morris earned $ 2 million in salary last season with the Bucs, according to the Times.
