Judge: John Edwards Has Serious Heart Condition

Judge: John Edwards Has Serious Heart Condition.Greensboro, NC - Former presidential candidate John Edwards has a serious heart condition requiring medical intervention next month and his illness limits of his journey, including a court case coming on possible violations of campaign, his doctor said a judge, which delayed the trial.

Federal Judge Catherine Eagles did not disclose the exact nature of the disease Friday at Edwards or what procedure he needed. However, she said the presidential candidate twice had "three episodes" and said his condition could be fatal if not treated.

A cardiologist for Senator, 58, former North Carolina has written two letters about his state of Eagles, who talked about them at a hearing to consider whether the trial of six felony and misdemeanor account should begin this month. Eagles said jury selection will now begin on March 26, at the earliest.

Edwards is on medication and is expected to undergo a procedure in February after which it will take several days to recover, Eagles said. She did not describe what the episodes involved or if the procedure would require unblocking of the arteries or other current treatments. The letters of the doctor and other medical records have been kept under seal by the court.

"The public has an interest in a speedy trial," said Eagles bench. "Ordinarily, I would try to manage something like that. But there are clearly limits to Mr. Edwards because of health problems and serious."

Her doctor had recommended that he not drive or travel, but at the request of the judge, Edwards was in court. It does not seem to have all the outward signs of disease, but he was without his usual smile and bounce back quickly in its approach.

The trial has already been delayed twice; including an extension granted to Edwards could attend the wedding of his eldest daughter.

Prosecutors took no position on whether the judge should grant the deferral status due to the health of the accused, but said they were willing to try Edwards. He is accused of concealing nearly $ 1 million in cash and checks from wealthy donors used to help hide his pregnant mistress during his 2008 run for the White House.

The legal team of Edwards and voice has been mum about his condition since his diagnosis last month, declining repeated requests for comment on his condition, even after the hearing.

Known to be telegenic Edwards was accustomed entered the federal courthouse by the public entrance, where a group of reporters and cameramen assembled. But Friday, he took steps to pass through unnoticed. A court security officer said he had come and gone through a back door.

Two years ago, Edwards admitted that he has created a baby born to his ex-mistress. He had long denied the girl, Frances Quinn Hunter, was his, even after he admitted cheating on his wife with the child's mother, Rielle Hunter. Hunter was hired by Edwards campaign in 2008 the White House to turn behind the scenes video of him.

Edwards's confession came ahead of the publication of a book by a former colleague Andrew Young. The book describes how Edwards worked to hide his paternity with the help of his assistant married.

Shortly before the 2008 presidential primary began, young people have volunteered to claim that he - not Edwards - was the father of the child. But there were suspicions at the time that the aid was fiercely loyal to the fall, taking as his boss.

The child was conceived in mid-2007, while Edwards was running for the White House, and over time, it was to renew her vows after 30 years of marriage.

In early 2010, Edwards publicly admitted paternity of children Hunter and his friends revealed that he and his wife, Elizabeth, were separated. She died in December 2010 for incurable breast cancer that was first diagnosed in 2004; one day after the Democratic ticket that included John Edwards as vice presidential candidate lost to George W. Bush.

The law school edwardsi were lovers who got married just days after they took the bar exam and in the summer of 1977. They had four children together, including a son who died at the age of 16. Although the couple had separated, John Edwards was at his side around the clock as his health deteriorated. He did not speak at his funeral.
